My first paper is on Sat and yet I'm finding it so hard to focus!!
I guess the only way to make me study is to confiscate my phone and ipod cos I cant stop looking at them!

And I cant believe I'll be flying off to America in 3 weeks' time. I'm looking forward to the experience but at the same time I hope it doesn't come too soon cos I know that I'll be missing my family and friends badly. Sobs. And I still got lots of preparation work to do. For example, I got to set up my webcam and stuff at home so I can videocall my parents when I'm in US. And I still haven settled the phone stuff. Should I bring my SG sim card there or should I just freeze my line over here? And which stuff should I bring and which not to? Should I get a new camera or bring my 5 mega pixel cranky cam? Argh Major headache..!

I'm so so PISSED OFF!!

I just got an ipod touch 4 days ago and there's something wrong with my built-in speakers, the songs all sound like i'm playing through a radio with very bad reception. And i'm not talking about rock songs by linkin park or paramore. Even slow songs like Halo by Beyonce oso sound as bad on my ipod!!

The staff at the retail outlet also think that the speakers are defective lor, but they need a report from the service centre b4 they can replace my faulty ipod with a new one. But the cocky technical staff at the Wheelock place service centre refused to admit that my speakers are faulty. He's the typical act-cool act-japanese-but-phail type of ah beng. He refused to admit that there's sth wrong with my ipod and instead kept insisting it's because the songs i play have very heavy bass. So sian diao. I wont be so angry if he's polite but he speaks in a belittling manner. He really deserves some ass-kicking.

So a word of advice to ppl who are going to get the ipod touch, dun be fooled by the online reviews saying that the built-in speakers are fantastic cos mine is proof that the speakers are of low quality. Even my cheapo 20 dollar eeyore speaker i got from gift shop sounds better than the ipod.

My dream is to keep a dog in the future. And I always thought that the hardest part would be to get my mum's consent.
Unexpectedly, after asking her about it, she actually told me she wouldn't object to it provided I have the financial means and time to take care of the dog myself. Weeeee!

So I went through the list of HDB approved dog breeds and painstakingly google-d every single one for pictures and some basic info.

My favourite species, the Siberian Husky, is definitely not HDB approved because of its large size. =(

Fortunately, there is another breed, the Alaskan Klee Kai, which is a husky look-alike but smaller in size. In fact, it is a spitz species and small spitz species are allowed in HDBs. =) But the down side is this species is relatively new and extremely rare. It will definitely cost a bomb and even if I have the money, it's hard to find a seller in Singapore.

Other than the above 2 species, I have also thought of getting a Papillon (Butterfly Dog). Sometime ago, I've seen one in the Pets Kampong at Yew Tee Point. It was put on a leash and tied to the counter of the pet shop. It was shivering all over and its barks were very soft and high pitched. I went forward to stroke it and immediately fell in love with the species.

Another beautiful breed that caught my eye would be the shetland sheepdog, also known as sheltie. I really think it looks a lot like rough collies except that shelties are smaller.

Such beautiful dogs, but right now I can only search for pictures and videos online since it'll be quite sometime before I get my own income to support a dog.

I was reading BBC Knowledge magazine when I read an article on this amazing paper craft. The creator, Wataru Itou from Toyko, took 4 years to design and build this structure. See there's a ferris wheel in the castle and it also has a train moving in it!!

I think I hide my emotions very well.
So well that not a single person around me knows what I truly feel deep inside.
And I like being this way because I feel that allowing people to know my feelings sort of make me weak and vulnerable.
And it's quite hard for me to find someone whom I can open my heart to. Neither could I find a friend who truly knows me inside out, cos I don't even know myself.

I wonder if things would be different if I had a sibling. Or maybe a dog.
... Ok let's not talk about dogs because I can rattle on and on.

Sometimes I wonder if aiming for cap 4 is too much for me.
All thanks to the "excellent" grades I got in year 1 sem 2, I have to put up such a tough struggle trying to pull my grades up to a more decent range. Cap 4 seems very far away to me especially when I dun have much confidence in this sem's exams. Don't worry, I dun think my cap would drop (cos it doesnt really have much space to fall anyway) but any rise would be very small and insufficient to pull my cap up to 4 by end of year 3.
Nevertheless, I'll try my best. I'm taking special term starting next week cos I dun wan the loooooooong 3 months break to spoil my studying momentum. Jiayou jiayou Xuan!!

We're all very stressed recently, so I want to share some funny incidents with all.

Incident number 1:
There is this jap drama called 时效警察.
But when Susheel first mentioned the name of this drama to me, I thought it was 十孝警察. (A very filial cop -.-) And I was thinking how come only 10孝, I thought normally it's 24孝. Quite stupid lar..

Incident number 2:
Today my dad told me to help him translate 昌鱼(a type of fish) into english. I tried to translate using google translate and guess what it churned out?
...
It gave me "chang fish".
Then I was like ".................................................."
After a while I realised actually I typed the wrong chinese word. It should be 鲳鱼 not 昌鱼. No wonder google translator gave me crap, lol.

Hope my post can put a smile onto ur face. It might not be the funniest joke on Earth but make do with it lar. "Mai hiam buay pai, Ai hiam kanasai" So hope u all mai hiam lar..

I remember telling my frens that i'll start ponning GP place once sch reopens. But till now i actually haven been ponning much. And I'm glad I din.

Because the interaction I had with my cousins is priceless. Sometimes, the things that they do or say can make me laugh even when I recall the incident days later. I believe it's their insanity that is keeping me sane throughout this stressful period.

I just hope that YS and L(NS now) can go GP place more frequently and YQ + SQ can stay awake more often (ok, u can ignore me if you're really tired.. X_X)

Just changed my blog's song to Alin's song, 我还是不懂. Last time Fion told me there's a song by Alin which is nice, wonder if she's referring to this one. I'm addicted to it now..

Today I went to $h1nT0ky0 for dinner with my papa mama. It's something like sakae - you take food off the conveyor belt and when you ask for the bill, the waitress will count the number of plates of each colour you had. There are three colours, white (99c), black ($4+) and red ($6.50).
But today, the waitress miscounted the no of plates we had. She counted one less red plate (that's $6.50) and mistook one red plate for a black plate (black plate $4+, red plate $6.50). Add in the GST and service charge and that's around $9 less!! (Shhhh...) I think she made the mistake because one red plate was behind the stack of the other plates and the other red plate looked black because it was put beneath a few white plates.

Yay, I'm dishonest. I dun have integrity...

I learnt an important piece of knowledge from today's Air Crash Investigation.

When an air plane is going to crash-land in the sea, passengers should wear the life jackets WITHOUT inflating it while still in the plane. A lot of people do not know about this but this piece of info can save many lives. When a plane lands on sea, there is a high possibility that it would be torn into segments. When that happens, the cabin would be flooded with seawater. If passengers inflate their life jackets before getting out of the plane cabin, the life jacket would pull the person upwards while he/she is still strapped to the seat. This makes it extremely difficult to undo the seatbelt. Secondly, the cabin would be so full with seawater leaving only a small bubble of air in the sinking cabin. Passengers with inflated life jackets, who have somehow managed to undo their seatbelts, would then be pushed against the ceiling of the cabin. It would be very difficult for them to swim to the submerged exit and escape through it.

In 1996, when Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 crash-landed in the sea after being hijacked, the plane got ripped into many segments. Many of the passengers survived the initial impact but drowned because they inflated their life jackets inside the plane, causing them to be unable to escape. In the end, only 50 people (out of 175) survived this crash, including the heroic pilot and co-pilot. More passengers would have been able to survive if they knew about the dangers of inflating life jackets inside the plane.

I just learnt the news of the crash of Turkish Airlines today. This is the third air crash I heard of this year although we're still in the first quarter of the year.

1st) Crash of US Airways plane into Hudson River on 15 Jan - everyone survived
2nd) Crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407 on 12 Feb - 50 people died
3rd) Crash of Turkish Airlines on 25 Feb - 9 killed, 86 injured

Wish that those injured would recover quickly and let's hope that there would be no more aviation accidents in the near future.

A short clip on some of the most extraordinary cases of aviation accidents.

Flying Blind - A piece of tape is pasted over the tube of an instrument on board during cleaning and the cleaner forgot to remove the tape after the cleaning process. The instrument is used to measure air pressure and thus determine the speed and the altitude at which the plane is flying. With the instruments giving the wrong readings, the pilots had no idea of their speed and altitude. The worse thing is that they were flying at night over sea thus they had no visual reference to estimate the height at which they were flying. Eventually the plane crashed into the sea.

Kid in the cockpit - A pilot invited his son into the cockpit and allowed him to sit in the pilot's seat and control the plane which is flying in auto-pilot mode. However, the auto-pilot was accidentally switched off and both the pilot and co-pilot did not realise it. When they finally realised it, it was too late to save the plane. There were no survivors in that accident.

Attack over Baghdad - A group of terrorists in Baghdad fired a misile into the air, aiming to bring down the innocent DHL cargo plane which was flying over them at that time. The missile broke off a portion of the left wing and ruptured the hydraulic pipes in the plane. In large planes, hydraulic systems are used to control the movement of the plane(climbing, descending and turning). With the hydraulic systems all not working, the pilots have almost no control over plane. Miraculously, they managed to land the plane safely by using the engines to control the movement of the plane.

I realised the robots from Nimbro have faces drawn on them and they all have their own names.
Furthermore, the robots are not controlled by humans. They all have sensors on board to help them track the ball and play the game.

Ok, it's a GEK assignment. Schonbein paper is actually filter paper dipped in dunno wad chemical solution and it's supposed to be able to measure the ozone concentration in the air around it. Ozone is present in the troposphere in parts per billion. Which means that in every billion air molecules, a few of them are ozone molecules. WOW!! =.=
Ok, so this piece of paper is supposed to do wonders. Clipped it onto my window frame at 4pm. Supposed to wait 8 hours b4 i dip it in water and see if there is any colour change (which i highly doubt so).

Eeeee 讨厌。

I just had my unseen tutorial for solidworks on the past thursday.
To non-ME ppl, solidworks is a software that we poor mech engin ppl have to learn to use. For an unseen tutorial, students are only given the question sheet at the start of the tutorial and we're given only 30 minutes to construct a 3D model out of the pathetic plan, front and side views on the paper =(
Furthermore, the dimensions given are so limited and messy. I spent majority of the time scratching my head, pressing on my calculator, trying to find out the dimension of some feature on the model.
I didnt manage to complete my model despite spending so many evenings in school practising and preparing for it. =( so demoralising. I drew many shapes on the model but didnt extrude or cut because there are still some dimensions unknown. (like what is the distance from this feature to the edge of the solid? what is the length of the rectangle drawn?) Aiyo, why the drawings so niao. Put a few more dimensions cannot meh?
The most infuriating thing is the guy sitting right in front of me finished his model and he was smiling as if he was posing for a toothpaste ad.
But anyway, torts said the average grade for solidworks unseen tutorial is 30%. Hope that's the case for our batch. (evil grin)

And the prof for ME 2134 fluid mech already posted the instructions for final exams. 4 pages of helpsheet leh!! That sounds so intimidating lar. 2 pages of helpsheet is alr so time consuming to prepare. I'm so so so lagging behind, have to catch up!!

I love my faculty, I love my course.
No matter how hard the content is, no matter how lousy some of my lecturers might be, I feel that I'm still the happiest studying wad i am now.

Guess many of you frequently hear me complaining about my labby (my lab partner). Yes, i'm always avoiding her calls because she calls me too frequently!! like almost everyday when the deadline of the lab report is approaching and a few times each day. It's very scary and irritating especially when i dun really wan to spend too much time on a stupid lab report. Somemore i feel that she is too kiasu --- sometimes she just has to be 100% certain that her answer is correct when the questions are actually very easy. (torts should noe this better than me. She can describe in detail how my labby 'cuses the lab assistant during com lab.) But actually my labby is quite nice in person. It's just her phone calls i cant stand. Hah, dun sound very convincing, do i?

I watched a documentary filming the whole design and construction process of this ride. The engineers and dunno-whos put in a lot of effort on the exterior of the ride to make it look like the real Mt Everest. The waiting rooms are also painstakingly decorated to bring people into the story. Not only that, take a look at this video and u'll see how cool the ride is. Fasten ur seatbelts, and off we go!!

Actually, there is supposed to be a frightening Yeti reaching down attempting to grab the people when the roller coaster is in the tunnel, but it's too dark and the camera couldnt capture it. It's a pity =(

My Chemistry gem lecturer said something that made me feel that I'm very stupid. Remember back in our primary school and secondary school days, we were taught in social studies or geography that global warming causes polar ice caps to melt which in turn would lead to rising sea level? My lecturer said this is wrong. He said melting of the ice caps would not cause sea level to rise because the ice has already deplaced the volume of water which has the same weight as the ice cap itself (Remember physics of fluids?). When the ice cap melts, it'll only fill up the volume which it has displaced therefore it will not cause sea levels to rise. AHHHH I feel so stupid! Kena tricked by some layman who wrote the textbook.

PS: Only the melting of ice on land will cause sea level to rise when the water flow into the oceans.

I recently took up japanese lesson partly because of my favourite band, Do As Infinity. So sad that they disbanded and even sadder that i dun even have a poster of them. I was looking through the huge stack of rough paper on my desk when I dug out an old piece of quiz paper. There are 3 interesting questions on it. Since I do not have the answer to that quiz, I thought of posting the questions on my blog so that I could check my answers with others and see if I got them right, haha. Quite difficult.. Uncle A is thinking of a number between 8 and 100(inclusive) and Uncle B wants to guess what number that is. Therefore, Uncle B decided to ask Uncle A a series of questions.

My answers:

Q1:
Uncle B says he knows the number if Uncle A tells him whether the first digit is 3. This shows that Uncle B thinks the number is less than 50, which is false. Another thing that you can know from this is that Uncle B is only left with 2 choices just before he made that statement. This makes me think that Uncle A has answered yes to both the second and third question(whether or not his number is a multiple of 4 and a square), otherwise it would be impossible for Uncle B to narrow down to only 2 choices so quickly. So assuming Uncle A answered yes to both questions, the numbers Uncle B would be left with are 16 and 36, which makes it logical for Uncle B to make the last statement.

So now we know the real answers to the questions asked.
Larger than 50? Yes.
Multiple of 4? No.
Square? Yes.
Among all the squares from 8 to 100, only 64, 81 and 100 are larger than 50. And among these 3 numbers, only 1 is not a multiple of 4. Thus, my answer is 81.

Yesterday night after my computing paper, my maple buddy(i call her aiai) brought me to do el nath pq! Yay, it's the first pq my char has ever done =.= The aim of the pq is to protect the 3rd job master standing in the centre of the map by killing the lycans and crimson balrogs before they touch him. Some of the lycans and rogs will drop skillbooks so we have to look out for the ones we need and loot quickly.

Our party comprises of a bishop, a dk and 2 ice archmages(my fren and i). Once we got in, we started spamming skills(genesis and blizzard).. I lagged for 5 whole seconds and i thought i was gg to die.. Lols, luckily i survived and got my infinity skill ^^

Computing

Computing practical exam today. So glad it was finally over.. I have been worrying about this for more than 7 days and there were even nights when i dreamt about computing after mugging so much of it in the day. I slept at 4 am for two days this week just to study for this exam and eventually my efforts paid off. =D I was able to compile the entire program without much pulling of hair (previously i was prepared to submit only part of the program cos i heard from my peers that the exam would be super difficult.) Halfway through the exam, i even heard people banging tables in frustration in the lab. O_O Ouch? Haha.. Thanks everyone who have wished me best.. Hopefully Lady Luck would be on my side again on the day of final exam =)

By the way, this is a quote from the practical instructions just to show u guys how "niao" the lecturers are. "If your program is suposed to print 'Result: 50' but your program prints 'Result : 50', it will be marked wrong due to the extra space." And can u believe, they typed that and they mis-spelt "supposed".

I was queuing for bubble tea today when i overheard 2 sec sch boys discussing about maple. They were talking in this kiam pa hao lian tone which is characteristic of every sec sch boy. Yes! Finally i've regained my freedom.. Wow, the sudden release of pressure put me at a loss. I suddenly couldnt decide what to do now.. lols.. ~This was actually how I spent my time everyday after school (when I was still schooling..) though exaggerated a little =X~

The gurgling of water from the shower was balm to my ears. I allow the warm droplets of water to pound on my back like a massage. The fragrance of the shower foam and shampoo was so overwhelming that I felt dizzy. A mist had formed on the mirror. I can feel the sweat and dirt on my body being washed away by the warm water.

I changed into comfortable T-shirt and shorts and put the school uniform in the laundry. As I applied moisturizing cream onto my face, I sensed the familiar sweet scent of it. At the same time, I could hear the sizzling of eggs on the frying pan and the clatter of plates coming from the kitchen. Reminded of my hunger, I dashed into the kitchen, ready to devour any food in sight.

The kitchen was redolent of coffee, eggs and chicken rice. The smell of it was enough to send my empty stomach grumbling like thunder. I tried to smuggle a piece of chicken into my mouth but was stopped by my mother.

"Don't you dare touch the chicken before I have everything ready," she scolded and waved me off.

After a long wait at the dining table, my mother finally had everything set down on the table and we started attacking our food, with the television switched on, of course. It was a hearty meal, with a few burps of contentment marking its end.

My next activity was to take a nap. I lay on the sofa situated in the living room. It is yellow and scattered all over with tiny blue flowers. The droning of the television set was a lullaby which never fails to send me to sleep. I could feel the softness of the cushion beneath me and the gentle strokes of the wind on my face. Soon, I drifted off to dreamland.

As usual, I was awakened by my mother's violent shakes and persistent nags. I forced my sleepy eyes open and stumbled into the study room to start battling my huge pile of homework. In the background, there was the humming of the air-conditioner, the occasional "whizz" of passing vehicles and the unchanging "tick" of the clock. These were often accompanied by the barely audible droning of the television from the living room which assured me of my parents' presence.

Time is cruel. It never waits for me when I am behind time but instead continues with its journey at its own pace. I have only completed two thirds of my homework when it was already bedtime. In order to prepare myself for school the next day, I have to get enough sleep. I have no choice but to abandon my uncompleted homework and go to bed.

I jumped onto my comfortable bed and closed my eyes, thus beginning the sequel to my previous trip to dreamland.

An end to my agony..

Finally.. I've decided to quit my temp job on the second week of June. I want to quit before my salary reaches 500 cos I don't have to surrender 20% of my income to CPF.. Hahaha.. I'm definitely looking forward to that day when I can finally regain my freedom.. As for now, it's time for me to have a big headache over what to give my colleagues as goodbye gifts..

Stupid mistakes I made..

Speaking of writing essays, I could still remember the funniest mistake I've ever made. In primary one, I was trying to write "I have a big family." but at that time i haven't really mastered the alphabet. I got some letters mixed up and i wrote "I have a pig family." instead. -.-

Another foolish sentence I've written : "My ah gong's house is bigger than the sea." (Maybe this isn't that funny but it's stupid anyway..)

There was another stupid mistake I made and this time it has nothing to do with writing essays. I could remember my primary school Maths teacher instructing the whole class to always draw a line ACROSS the page of our exercise books once we've finished our work for the day. I did something different -.- ... I drew a line and A CROSS. After that my Maths teacher took my book and showed it to the rest of my classmates, humiliating me. ok DOTZZ.......

The Geography Teacher

~This is also a made-up story. I'm just trying to use as many geography stuff to describe this imaginary teacher as possible.~

The Geography teacher is a mountain of fatty tissue. His limited fashion sense is shown by the piece of checkered cloth that wraps around his body and the two black tubes that cover his huge legs. Deforestation is occurring on his head but his armpits and nostrils are surprisingly spared.

His face is like the map of Singapore; the wrinkles represent the dense network of the roads in Singapore; his eyebrows are like the rare green lungs of the city; his nostrils are reservoirs of mucus; and the two hairy moles on his chin represent the Esplanade. He has eyes with red blood capillaries crawling all over and gravity seems to act the most on the sides of his mouth.

There is absolutely no clue to his occupation from his monstrous appearance except for the stack of books clipped under his flabby arms. He smells as bad as a volcano after an eruption and is able to morph into an erupting one when he discovers any homework undone.

An earthquake signals his arrival, causing all the students to be under their respective tables by the time he reaches the classroom. He talks like a thunderstorm: he speaks as loudly as the thunder; his words are so caustic, they make the listener feel as though being struck by lightning; his speeches are usually accompanied by raindrops that originate from his gaping mouth.

He is an effective teacher because his students are already able to learn a great deal about Geography from his appearance before he even starts the lesson. Anyway, with such a teacher, who dares not to pay attention during class?

My Grandparents' Place

The first thing I noticed as I stepped into the living room was the haziness of the place. When I observed more carefully, I realised that the misty effect was made by numerous dust particles floating about in the living room. Every horizontal surface was blanketed by a thick layer of dust.

Suddenly, I heard a croaking voice saying, "Dear grandchild, you've come to visit grandpa and grandma.."

I turned towards the source of the voice and noticed that the voice originated from a short, shrivelled figure sitting on a wooden chair half-eaten by termites. There was a tall and plump person sitting by that shrunkened figure, knitting some cardigan using a bright green yarn.

The walls of the room were a tinge of yellow and decorated with the waste material of lizards. The corners of the room were full of spiderwebs, waiting to capture any prey that blindly bangs into them. The fan in the ceiling was swirling at a breakneck speed of one revolution per hour and at the same time it was shaking slightly, threatening to land on any unlucky person who happened to be seated right below it.

Looking at the state of the yellowed sofa in the middle of the room, I vowed never to sit on it, unless I want to end up with insects crawling all over me. The covering was also torn, exposing some of the yellowish-brown cotton within.

If I thought that my grandparents' bed would be of a better state, I was wrong. A strong stench of something decaying flooded my nose once I entered the dim room. The high concentration of water vapour is noticeable. The windows were closed with curtains drawn and my grandfather explained that it was for his privacy. Probably the stench would not be that strong had he opened the windows for some fresh air.

The room was full of interesting "antiques" that my grandparents would not bear to discard. The pile of "antiques" have probably turned into habitats of several species of pests roaming their bedroom. The walls of thie room were of the same condition as those in the living room, if not, worse. The population of lizards in this room seemed to be larger than that in the living room and this is evident from the higher concentration of their waste material.

The most disgusting place of the flat was of course, the toilet. The place was as fragrant as a garbage truck. While one is busy squatting in the toilet and getting his business done, he(or she) could admire the parade of ants on the mosaic flooring, If the occupant is lucky, he or she might even be able to witness a battle between different species of insects. After flushing, there would be a ear-deafening buzzing noise made by the tank, as it fills up with water again.

The tiny kitchen was located between the toilet and the living room. The walls are coated with a layer of unremovable combination of oil and dirt. The huge refrigerator was forced into a corner of the kitchen and it seemed to protesting with its monotonous humming. The charred stove was also covered with dust due to its "underusage". The sink was filled with unwashed dishes and flies were flitting about, looking for remains of my grandparents' dinner. There was nothing on the oval wooden table except for a boiling kettle, a couple of empty porcelain cups and half a watermelon.

All these are nothing compared to what I saw next. As I bent down curiously to check if the watermelon was still edible, I noticed a brown slimy creature wriggling and squirming in the red flesh of the poor fruit. It was this brown creature that caused me to screech out loud and sent me plummeting down the stairs.

~Fortunately for me, this contents of this essay are fictitious. Haha, I wouldn't know what to do if I had grandparents THIS hygenic.. Pls comment~

The Battle within the Household

~This is one of the essays I've written years ago haha. Sounds kind of childish.....~

I sat in front of the television set, trying to concentrate on the persistent droning of the newsreporter while my father, the potbellied talking machine, disrupted me with "its" countless unhelpful comments on the news. The talking machine morphed into the statue of the Merlion at the Singapore river as a waterfall of glittery, gluey saliva poured from its gigantic mouth.

"Can't you just keep quiet?" the volcano within me erupted after i beared with father's endless monologue for twenty minutes. Father fell silent instantly and stared at me with dagger-like eyes.

Suddenly, my mother and the newsreporter were not there anymore. My father and I zoomed into a world of our own, a world of animosity. Silence
crept into our world, chasing away the laughters and warm greetings that once roamed our little flat.

"Calm down, you two!" my mother's words broke the silence and unintentionally ignited our fury. Words as piercing as swords flew out of my mouth, as well as my father's. The clanging of swords drowned out the voice of the newsreporter completely.

"How dare you tell me off? You're a spoilt, dierespectful brat!" my dad thundered.

"What about you? How could you put the blame on me when you're the one in the wrong?" I roared in reply.

Startled, my mother tried to protect herself by holding in front of a body a paper shield - the newspaper.

My father's face was so red with rage that for a moment, I thought he might just explode, giving off colourful sparks like that of a firework. I could almost feel the immense heat radiating off his round belly.

Without warning, he shouted, "Apologise to me right now! And you better promise never to be rude to me again or I will deduct your pocket money."

That was the newly-imposed law in the household. Break it and face a penalty of a decrease in allowance. A few strokes of the cane might be awarded to offenders who managed to make my dad hit the roof. Unfortunately, I am not a law-abiding citizen and did not let the new law bother me.

My father and I resumed our battle, I fired rude remarks at him while he threw bombs of humiliation in return. He was the government while I took the role of the opposing party, always seeking new ways to rebel against him.

For thirty whole minutes, we exchanged blows and there seemed to be no end to this battle. Soon, I was in shortage of resources and knew that I was fighting a losing battle. I decided to stop struggling uselessly thus i reluctantly raised the white flag to signify my surrender. Sensing the ceasefire, my mother emerged from behind her shield of paper and gave a sigh of relief.

Ashamed of being defeated, I stormed back to my military base, my bedroom, with my head hung low. My father, the victor of the battle, paraded the battleground in pride.
